We are excited to announce that on 28th September 2024 we held the international conference "Shaping Tomorrow's Workforce: Building XXI Century Skills for Future Generations" which marked the conclusion of our Erasmus+ project "Formation of Critical Thinking and Media Literacy as Protection Against Media Manipulation, Misinformation and Fake News". While we were thrilled to present the results of our hard work, it was hard for us as the project draws to a close.
The conference provided a platform to discuss the innovative CT&ML project outputs, which are designed to equip future generations with critical thinking and media literacy skills essential for navigating the modern world. We explored how these tools directly align with the goals of building a workforce ready for 21st-century challenges. We presented the focal project a comprehensive online course that has been developed as part of the CT&ML project consisting of two parts:
I. Master Critical Thinking: Making Precision Decisions for Success – Learn the essential skills to make effective decisions in a fast-paced world.
II. Master Media Literacy: Tools to Navigate and Filter Out Fake News – Empower yourself to recognize and combat misinformation in today’s media landscape.
This course is designed to equip future generations with the tools they need to thrive in the 21st century.
The other two project results were also presented. i.e. the Teacher’s Manual on protecting against media manipulation, misinformation, and fake news which provides educators with vital tools to foster critical thinking and media literacy in their students, arming future generations with the knowledge to navigate today's complex media environment; and the CT&ML Compendium which complied all the study resources in a systematic and comprehensible mode.
In addition to the project’s outputs, we also presented other effective strategies as part of the SEED projects, such as serious games, gamification, challenge-based learning, and case studies, which will support the development of the competencies for the future, as well as the results of another Erasmus+ project, i.e. Future Work Project which facilitated developing the soft skills that will be useful for the workforce of the future.
During the networking session on Friday evening, all through the conference on Saturday and again after the conference, exciting new ideas emerged for future collaborations and possible expansions of the CT&ML project.
